Submission & Citation Guidelines
1. About the Journal
Nalanda – The Supreme Court Review is a peer-reviewed legal journal devoted to Supreme Court jurisprudence, constitutional adjudication, and Indian legal thought. The Journal values clarity, discipline, and writing that meaningfully assists judges, advocates, scholars, and students.
2. Categories of Submissions
The Journal accepts submissions on a rolling basis in the following categories:
- Long Articles: 5,000 - 20,000 words
- Short Articles / Essays: 2,500–4,000 words
- Case Notes & Judicial Comments: 1,500–3,000 words
- Constitutional Notes / Contemporary Issues: 1,200–2,500 words
- Invited Editorials & Responses
Word limits include footnotes or endnotes.
3. Originality & Exclusivity
- Submissions must be original, unpublished, and the author's own work.
- Simultaneous submissions are permitted but must be disclosed at the time of submission.
- Any form of plagiarism will result in rejection.
4. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI Tools)
The Journal welcomes responsible use of AI tools for:
- Language improvement
- Structural assistance
- Preliminary research support
Mandatory conditions:
- Core arguments, analysis, and conclusions must reflect original human thought.
- All AI-assisted material must be independently cross-checked by the author.
- Authors remain fully responsible for factual accuracy, legal propositions, and citations.
Authors are encouraged to briefly disclose AI assistance in the cover note.
5. Citation Method (Mandatory)
All submissions must strictly follow the Nalanda Own Citation Method (NOCM).
5.1 Mode of Citation
- Both footnotes and endnotes are permitted.
- Authors must choose one mode only and use it consistently throughout the manuscript.
6. Citation Guidelines (Detailed)
6.1 Supreme Court of India – Judgments
Format:

Rules:
- Court Neutral Citations/Livelaw/SCC is the preferred reporter
- Paragraph numbers are mandatory wherever available.
6.2 Constitution Bench / Larger Bench
Format:

6.3 High Court Judgments
Format:

Court identification (Del, Bom, Pat, etc.) is mandatory.
6.4 Constitutional Provisions (Lineage Method)
Articles must not be cited in isolation.

6.10 Prohibited Citation Practices

7. Formatting Guidelines
- Font: Times New Roman
- Body text: 14-pt | Notes: 10-pt
- Line spacing: 1.5 (text) | Single (notes)
- Alignment: Justified
- Margins: 1 inch on all sides
8. Manuscript Preparation
- Submit manuscripts in .doc / .docx format only.
- The manuscript must be anonymised.
- A separate cover page must include:
- Title
- Author name(s)
- Affiliation (if any)
- Email address
- Short bio (50–75 words)
9. Review Process
- Editorial screening followed by blind peer review.
- The Editorial Board may suggest revisions or decline submissions.
- The decision of the Editorial Board is final.
10. Ethical & Citation Responsibility
By submitting, authors affirm that:
- All cited authorities have been read and verified
- Ratios are accurately extracted
- Citations are defensible in academic and court settings
